By ExVacationIdeas

We LOVE Las Vegas and visit there at least twice a year - last year it was 4 times! We have seen every free show or exhibit on the strip, and for that matter off the strip too!

Our Top 5 Free Attractions in Las Vegas are:

1. The Bellagio Fountains

Experience the lights, and music through a beautifully designed coreography of water. The Bellagio fountains are a "DO NOT MISS" when in Las Vegas. Check the show out both in the day and at night, you will be amazed at how different the experience is.

Show times:
Monday to Friday:
Every 1/2 hour from 3 pm to 8 pm and every 15 minutes from 8 pm to midnight

Saturdays, Sundays and Holidays:
Every 1/2 hour from 12 pm to 8 pm and every 15 minutes from 8 pm to midnight

2. The Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand

From 11 am to 7 pm everyday, the Lion Habitat at the MGM Grand hosts 2 lions from Keith Evans' Las Vegas Ranch. Keith Evans goal is to work with these majestic cats and educating the public on the requirements of lions in the wild.

There are 31 lions at the ranch and 2 are rotated in and out of the exhibit each day. Each lion doesn't stay for more than 6 hours.

It is free to view the lions, and if you are lucky you may catch feeding time. Once we walked by the Lion Habitat early and the cubs were out.

3. Bellagio Conservatory

Take a leisurely stroll through the Bellagio Conservatory and Botanical Gardens. I never miss an opportunity to see the conservatory when we visit Las Vegas. Each time it is different, and corresponds with a particular theme or holiday. My favorite is Christmas, although Chinese New Year was pretty cool too!

Don't forget to look over the front desk in the lobby, usually the display extends to behind the front desk staff.

It is open 24 hours a day, 7 days a week and is always busy!

4. The Mirage Volcano

Experience the fire, the explosions and the music as you watch the Mirage Volcano erupt every hour on the hour from 6 pm to midnight (depending on the season). The Mirage was the first mega resort on the strip and this was the first free attraction. After spending $25 million on it's redesign, it opened to the public in late 2008.

5. The Freemont Street Experience

Experience vintage Las Vegas with the lights and glamour of Las Vegas, downtown on Freemont Street. Every night from 8:30 to midnight, every hour on the hour, the Viva Vision show combines music with a 90 foot high and 5 football fields long light show that is essentially the worlds largest screen. Each show is different, featuring las vegas history or current events (i.e. Christmas or Nascar Weekends).

It's more than the light show though. You can walk from old school casino to casino easily and the whole street has a party like atmosphere. It is worth the drive to downtown Freemont Street!

We always recommend that people check it out when they go to Vegas!
